So the first act the new pope does is not set aside petty differences and try to include everyone in the Catholic faith. He tells Spain that a recently passed gay marriage law is "iniquitous" and that a bunch of Spanish Catholics should expect to be fired for supporting it.

And my mother wonders why I'm always bashing the Catholic church. For some reason it's okay for the priests and bishops to get away with destroying young men's lives with pedophilia (something the current pope said is not a problem and that the American press is making too big a deal out of it) and hit and runs (the Phoenix bishop was drunk driving, hit a man, went home and pretended it didn't happen). But God FORBID we let gays have any kind of equality in society.
