Sunny days and Mondays always get me down...
OK. I'm not down... just tired.
This past weekend was gay pride in Phoenix. I had such a blast. Friday I spent most of the day playing. That is, I helped build our float (Desperate Drag Queens) and set up our booth. Friday night I stayed in because I was so beat from working outside all day.
Saturday I had to get up at 7:30 to be at the office by 8:30. As we were driving the truck to the staging area, the backdrop started to fall. Tim jumped up to catch the falling house and gashed his leg. So we held the house in place until we got to the staging area. Then the two desperate house husbands and I put the float back together as I simultenously patched up Tim's leg.
The lawn boy never showed up so I ended up standing in for him. It was a lot of fun. The drag queen who played Gabrielle was very nice and we (Gabrielle, Carlos and I) kept posing for the crowd. Best of all, the desperate house husbands were dreamy. :-)
The weather was so freaking beautiful (sunny and mid-80s), so a lot of people ended up going to the festival. I laughed my ass off because I hung out with Buddy and Richard.... Those two could have their own comedy show.
After a disco nap and shower, Kevin and I met Richard and Jorge at Pookie's. After a brief stop at Roscoes we headed to the Ice House for the official party. I got to hang out with a bunch of awesome people, including Derek Hartley of The Derek and Romaine Show, Josh Zuckerman, Neil, Charles, Keith and gang and Rob (Father What a Waste) Miller.
Sunday, I went over to Scotty and Brian's and hung out with the boys. It was great to see my friend keith in from LA.... One of the sweetest guys on earth!
So today, we're all recovering and not getting much work done at the office.
Here are some pix!
Oh, tomorrow I'll have to write about the creepy couple who tried to pick me up. Plus, Rob's hysterical experience with the rock star who had a grasshopper on his shoulder.
