Pride weekend

This weekend is Gay Pride in Phoenix. Tomorrow I'll be marching in the parade with our Desperate Drag Queens float. It should be pretty fun/funny.

It's kind of sad that there are so many hateful messages coming from religious organizations about holding World Pride in Jerusalem. According to the HRC,

"Led by southern California evangelical Christian pastor Rev. Leo
Giovinetti, extremist representatives of the Muslim, Christian and
Jewish faiths demanded that the festival, themed "Love without
Borders", not be allowed to be held in the Holy City."

The New York Times reported that a Muslim Sufi sheik said,
"We can't permit anybody to come and make the Holy City dirty.
This is very ugly and very nasty to have these people come to
Jerusalem."

That cracks me up. The one time the Christians, Jews and Muslims get together it's to bash gays. Normally, they're killing each other with words or violence. Someone please explain to me why religion is important?
